THE WORKSHOP ABOARD JUNA

Engineering onboard

3D printing, design and practical engineering solutions for life afloat.

A fitting that finally fits. A replacement for the part you can’t find. A better way to organise the space you have, upgrades and odds and sods. I can design and print aboard Juna, helping fellow sailors solve problems big and small.

WHAT WE CAN HELP WITH

Made for the way
you use your boat.

From a simple hook to a part that needs measuring, modelling and rethinking. These are examples of the work we take on.

01 / MAKE LIFE EASIER

Useful additions

Make better use of awkward spaces and put the things you reach for exactly where you need them.

  • Custom hanging hooks
  • Mounts and brackets
  • Instrument and ignition panels
  • Tool storage and organisers
I have an idea ↗
02 / GET IT WORKING AGAIN

Replacement parts

Bring us the original, a broken piece or a set of measurements. We can recreate the geometry and discuss improvements.

  • Autopilot brackets
  • Spreader bushes
  • Rudder bearings
  • Bimini mounts
I need a replacement ↗
03 / SOLVE THE AWKWARD BIT

Engineered solutions

When an off-the-shelf part doesn’t suit the space, we can design around the job it needs to do.

  • Mast collars and tiller stops
  • Bilge pump carriers
  • Chainplate seals
  • Electrical enclosures
Let’s work it out ↗

Every application is assessed individually. Loads, heat, sun, water and fit determine whether a printed part—and the materials we carry—is suitable. Steering, rigging, bearing and sealing applications need particular care.

MADE ABOARD & BEYOND

Real parts. Real projects.

Original designs, replacement components, repairs and upgrades. Here are some of the things we’ve made. Select a photograph for a closer look.

FROM IDEA TO CAD

Designed around the job.

Alongside printing, we offer CAD design, modification and recreating existing components.

WHAT’S ON BOARD

My portable workshop opened up.

Our Bambu Lab X2D is paired with AMS 2 and AMS HT filament systems. We carry PLA and PETG in a wide choice of colours, with complete CAD design, modification and reverse engineering available.

THE PRINTERBambu Lab X2D
PLA

General purpose parts

Useful for interior models, organisers and suitable interior pieces. It’s fast and strong. We’ll check heat and exposure before choosing it for a finished part.

PETG

UV and saltwater resistant

A useful option for many outdoor brackets, carriers, enclosures and everyday fittings. Material and print orientation are selected around the intended job.

Many colours aboard. Tell us your preference and we’ll confirm stock with your quote.

BUILT AROUND CRUISING LIFE

Same anchorage?
Next port?

We’re travelling too. Most jobs are handed over to nearby boats, but we can also meet en route, deliver on arrival or post a finished part. Share your plans and we’ll work out the practicalities together.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you enquire.

Can you work from a broken part?

Yes. We offer copying, CAD reconstruction, modification and re-engineering. Photos and key measurements help us start; inspecting the original may be needed to capture the fit properly.

I already have a 3D model. Can you print it?

Yes. Send a link to your STL, 3MF or STEP file, or email it to us. We’ll check the model, size and intended use before quoting. Please make sure you have permission to have the design printed.

How much does it cost, and how long will it take?

Every project is quoted. Price depends on design work, size, material, print time, quantity and finishing. We’ll agree timing around the job, our current workload and both boats’ plans.

Can you make any boat part?

Suitability depends on the application. A part’s shape alone doesn’t establish its strength, temperature resistance, watertightness or service life. We’ll discuss the job and the limits of PLA and PETG before agreeing a solution.

Can you print something larger than the build area?

Sometimes a design can be split into sections and assembled. Send the overall dimensions and how the part will be used so we can assess a practical approach.

LET’S MAKE SOMETHING USEFUL

What do you
need aboard?

A rough idea is enough to start. Tell us about the part, your boat’s location and your timing. We’ll discuss the options and quote the work.
