And we're back in the game. Leaving the UK again.

Having made an unexpected return to the UK, we were very keen to get on our way again. Ten days after arriving back, we’d replaced the gearbox, watched the solar eclipse, got plenty of other jobs done and were ready to leave. We left Portland at 1115 , with a light Force 3 breeze and a plan to get back to Aber Wrac’h in one go. We knew the wind would vary in both direction and strength throughout the passage. At 182 miles, this would be one of our longest passages so far, if not the longest. There was a reasonable amount of motorsailing, a reasonable amount of sailing, and 34 hours later we were back in Aber Wrac’h. I haven’t got a massive amount of notes from this particular passage. It was a full spring tide, so we were being pushed around by the tides quite a bit, and our arrival was very foggy. We were grateful we’d been in before and had some familiarity with the approach and its hazards, of which there are plenty. Of course, as soon as we got there, the fog started to clear. It felt good to be back on track. For us, this return to France was the point we considered ourselves properly setting off. we recategorised everything that had come before, as a wonderful summer had been a very good shakedown. possibly the best summer of sailing we’d had.
