Read the story ↗Slightly dramatic title but you’re reading the post so I guess it worked :). Les sables-d’olonne is the sailing capital of France and is where we saw the golden globes race boats days before they leave for a year long race non-stop around the world. This was also our last stop before crossing the bay of biscay and heading into Spain. So we decided to enjoy our last French stop and what better way to enjoy our last stop on land for a few days than to go and see more boats. All jokes aside seeing the boats and their skippers in person was a very interesting experience and seeing how prepared everyone was with some people ready to leave and waiting to hear they can and some scrambling to make last minute preparations. While there we got a poster of all the skippers racing and a book on the golden globes race in general. The first race was in 1968-69 and was only completed by one person. However now many of the skippers who leave make it in the race. Now this years skippers are well into the Atlantic and we look forward to seeing their progress.
